Easton's handlebar profile has always been first rate and the shallow bend and long straight sections on the Monkey Lite DH allow you to place your controls inboard, even if you cut the bars down to a fashionable width. Surface finish seems more scratch resistant than most and, according to Easton, CNT (carbon nanotube) is the strongest fibre that will ever be made. Check out the science at www.easton.com — the spiel is enough to convert the diehard carbon sceptics. The Monkey Lite DH is lighter than the equivalent alloy bar and has considerably more spring, which will help damp vibrations and, in theory, reduce arm pump on long descents. Pricey, but if you want to run carbon bars and push your limits you can't buy better.
